Athreyam Sree Sankara Mathrumadam
Athreyam Sree Sankara Mathrumadam is a spiritual and cultural institution rooted in the Advaita philosophy of Adi Sri Shankaracharya and the values of Sanatana Dharma. Through Vedic study, yajnas and homams, meditation, the preservation of the guru lineage, spiritual education, Ayurveda and selfless service, its aim is to nurture dharmic and spiritual awareness within society.

Protect Dharma, and Dharma protects you.

കനകധാര മഹായാഗത്തിന്റെ മഹിമ
The Story of Kanakadhara
Once, Adi Shankaracharya went for alms and arrived at the house of a poor Brahmin woman. She had nothing to offer except a single gooseberry (amalaka). Moved by her devotion and selfless humility, Shankaracharya composed the Kanakadhara Stotram in praise of Goddess Mahalakshmi.
Pleased with his compassion and her devotion, Goddess Lakshmi appeared and showered a rain of golden gooseberries — boundless prosperity and abundance — upon that home.
Reciting the Kanakadhara Stotram is believed to remove poverty and bring wealth, peace and prosperity to one's life. This Mahayagam is observed to invoke that same divine grace — not merely for material wealth, but as a great sankalpa that dharma, charity, compassion, devotion and prosperity may fill human life.
“May dharma, charity, compassion, devotion and prosperity fill every home.”
